About this release
Buscrates' debut album Blasting Off connects eighties funk and post-disco boogie with the hip hop background of Pittsburgh producer Orlando Marshall. Keyboards and drum programming shape the ten-track set, with guest vocals from Anda, Sally Green, Tony Ozier and Kate Moe Dee. DJ Epik joins 'Five Days' and 'Sure Shot', while Brothermartino adds flute to the closing 'Turn It Out'. First released in 2020, the album returns on Bastard Jazz with its mix of vocal songs and instrumentals intact. This single-LP edition carries five tracks per side, from 'Believe' through the instrumental 'Cruise Control' to the finale.
