Candido - Jingo / Thousand Finger Man

Candido’s Jingo and Thousand Finger Man capture the percussionist’s move into New York disco with Salsoul in 1979. His conga and bongo playing gives Jingo its restless rhythmic drive, adapting Olatunji’s composition to an extended dancefloor setting. Thousand Finger Man takes a more spacious route, placing its rolling percussion within a deep, atmospheric arrangement that leaves room for the groove to unfold. These two long-form recordings put Candido’s musicianship at the centre of the band rather than treating percussion as decoration. The SG219 reissue couples both tracks in remastered form and reproduces the original label artwork.
