Cascate Emozionali Volume One opens Early Sounds’ seven-inch series with two reworks inspired by Italian cosmic music of the late 1970s. Stephen Schlacks’ ‘Cascades’ from 1978 takes the first side, paired with Filippo Trecca’s 1979 piece ‘Pulsazioni’. Made between Italy and the United States, the recordings revisit the synthesiser sounds and melodic character of their sources while giving them a contemporary finish. The project’s interest in memory extends to Alexis Jamet’s sleeve illustration, which redraws Vico Magistretti’s Selene chair. Two carefully considered versions that connect library music, electronic texture and the period’s cosmic atmosphere.
