About this release
Célia's second self-titled album, originally released by Continental in 1972, places her voice within a varied Brazilian MPB programme. Her interpretation of Arthur Verocai's Na Boca Do Sol brings fuzz guitar, strings, piano and horns into the arrangement, creating one of the album's most distinctive moments. Songs by writers including Roberto and Erasmo Carlos, Marcos Valle, Antônio Carlos Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes provide further settings for her delivery. Across twelve tracks, the record moves through melodic pop and richer instrumental textures without losing its vocal focus. Mr Bongo's official reissue reproduces the original gatefold artwork.
