Clint Foster - Indiums (Reissue)

The word classic is a much overused one, but in the case of this much in demand 1999 four tracker, it's no exaggeration. There has been much conjecture over the years over the identity of the producer - or producers - behind the mysterious Clint Foster name, but our lips are sealed, we ain't no grasses. All we will say is if you like your techno seriously laced with acid, tough and sinewy but equally funky then you'll love this. Opener 'Indium' is pinned down by machine-funk handclaps, a gloopy bassline and a synth line that coasts pretty majestically.

'Patterns' is faster, harder and dubbier, not a million miles in its rhythmic shuffle from Carl Craig's 'My Machines', while 'Throughway' is the truly hypnotic one, big on the atmospheric scale. 'Afterdark' closes things, airy synths swelling and hovering over an addictively chunky beat. No names, no packdrill, just four essentially fantastic bits of classy techno that haven't dated in all the years since. Essential.
