About this release
Club Nouveau’s 1986 debut Life, Love & Pain brings together 'Jealousy', 'Situation #9', 'Lean On Me' and 'Why You Treat Me So Bad'. Its electronic R&B, soul and boogie sound places those songs within a compact eight-track album, closing with the 'Pump It Up' reprise of 'Lean On Me'. The music’s reach extended into later hip-hop through 'Why You Treat Me So Bad', which became a key reference for Luniz’s 'I Got 5 On It'. This Tommy Boy vinyl edition presents the original album programme, with 'Promises, Promises', 'Heavy On My Mind' and 'Let Me Go' alongside the singles.
