About this release
Bronski Beat's 1984 debut The Age Of Consent places Jimmy Somerville's voice against the trio's electronic arrangements. Why? and Smalltown Boy anchor a ten-track album that also includes It Ain't Necessarily So, Love & Money and the closing I Feel Love / Johnny Remember Me medley. Synth-pop and disco provide the musical framework, while the songs retain the directness that made the debut distinctive. This London Records LP uses the remastered album programme from the original analogue tapes. The vinyl tracklist contains the ten album cuts, without the extra twelve-inch versions associated with expanded CD editions.
