One Glove 001 has finally arrived. The first release marks the long-awaited debut sounds of 'moon', a genuinely raw and talented artist delivering a uniquely gritty homage to the place that made him: Liverpool. The Southside Park EP showcases a much-needed exploration into the modern day sound of a city, with an important nod to an all too often overlooked past.
Audibly, the EP straddles the boundaries between scouse bruk, house, hip-hop, garage and jungle, with essential streaks of adlibs, samples and vocals from old and new voices, reflecting the grit and soul of inner-city Liverpool.
Born and bred in the south of the city, moon forms an integral part of Liverpool's ever-growing musical underground, alongside the likes of NuTribe, MC Nelson and Tekla. This project marks an opportunity for that underground to spread further afield and reach the ears of those outside of the city limits.
With a shared love for digging out fresh sounds from forgotten tales, moon links up with One Glove to set a blaze the status quo and produce something unexpected. An EP that is difficult to define yet provides a much needed jolt to the system during these trying times - a sensory and ultimately hopeful reminder that the dance will return. Stay left.
