About this release
Corrado Alunni brings jazz-funk colour to a pair of house-oriented grooves for Groove Culture Seven. Black Pearl combines warm Fender Rhodes melodies with flute and trumpet solos, giving the A-side an open, melodic feel. Turn It On takes the reverse with a firmer rhythmic emphasis, using Rhodes riffs, a substantial bassline and driving drums to carry the arrangement. The two tracks share Alunni’s interest in the meeting point between instrumental warmth and club production, moving between soulful house and nu-disco. This seven-inch pairs the two original tracks across its sides.
