About this release
Inedit gathers Cortex recordings made at the farmhouse studio Alain Mion established in Noisement, Seine-et-Marne, after moving there in 1977. With Alain Gandolfi at the recording desk, the group worked on material that remained unreleased beyond its separation in 1981. Rediscovered when Mion re-formed Cortex, the recordings include ‘I Heard A Sigh’, later sampled by Damso and other hip-hop artists. This Trad Vibe edition returns that archive to vinyl, with artwork based on Jean-Jacques Grand’s poster for the band’s first concert in 1973. Songs such as ‘High On The Funk’ and ‘Stand And Move’ sit alongside the quieter ‘Maïlys’ and closing ‘Emily’.
