About this release
Danger Mouse and Jemini The Gifted One's first collaborative album pairs the producer's sample-led arrangements with the Brooklyn MC's agile delivery. Released by Lex in 2003, Ghetto Pop Life draws on the sound of early 1990s East Coast hip hop while making room for its own unexpected touches, including the choir on the title track. Tha Liks, J-Zone, Prince Po and the Pharcyde join the sessions, adding contrasting voices to the duo's interplay. Across the album, Danger Mouse's production gives Jemini space to move between playful wordplay and a more direct, forceful flow.
