About this release
Daniel Lopatin, also known as Oneohtrix Point Never, composes the original score for Josh Safdie’s Marty Supreme. Synth sound design, mallet patterns, choral voices and jazz-influenced instrumentation drive the music, bringing an electronic vocabulary to the film’s sporting drama. The score moves between neoclassical forms and the textures of 1980s soundtracks, with new wave, techno and baroque influences shaping its changing moods. Lopatin’s approach connects rhythmic motion with more expansive melodic passages, giving the music a life across the album as well as within the film. The vinyl programme presents the complete score, from “The Call” through the closing credits.
