About this release
Daniel O’Sullivan’s Eros is a cycle of experimental chamber music written for a 14-piece ensemble. Originally commissioned for the Sonoton Music Library in Munich, it combines minimalist patterns, intricate syncopation, unusual intervals and detailed acoustic textures. O’Sullivan described its starting point through the meeting of Michael Nyman’s orchestral language and the rhythmic world of RZA, with further influences reaching towards Jobim, Magma and Copland. The 17 pieces move through a carefully arranged instrumental programme, from ‘Golden Verses’ to ‘Waxen Waned’. Be With Records presents the work on a single 140g LP in an edition of 500.
