About this release
Daniel Wang’s first Balihu release builds disco and house from samples, letting the rhythm and character of the source recordings shape the tracks. Originally issued in 1993, Look Ma, No Drum Machine! introduced an approach that would run through the label’s later catalogue: tightly assembled loops with a fluid, organic feel. Like Some Dream appears in two forms, including a version without timbales, before Warped, Gotta Get Up and Twitchy & Scratchy complete the reverse. This reissue presents five tracks that connect Wang’s record-collecting ear with the movement of the dancefloor.
