About this release
Criola Remixed revisits recordings by Denis Mpunga and Paul K., expanding their electronic work through contributions from Prins Emanuel, Dazion, Androo, Tolouse Low Trax and Interstellar Funk. Music From Memory supplied the producers with both completed pieces and short sketches from the duo's archive, allowing fragments that were too brief for the earlier Criola compilation to become material for new arrangements. The six-track programme moves between rhythmic remixes, dub treatments and a synth-bass-led original version of Veronika II. This 12-inch places the archive recordings in new settings while retaining their connection to the duo's African and Belgian musical backgrounds.
