About this release
Dave ‘Love’ Lee brings two songs to Disco Combine’s sixth release, pairing a full vocal treatment with an alternative mix on each side. Lovin’ You (Was My Mistake) takes a Philadelphia soul approach on the Philly World Mix. Joanna’s Groove opens instrumentally with rippling piano before building towards a string-led finale, offering a more spacious way into the song. On the reverse, How I Love New York draws on jazz-fusion rhythms in its Lower East Side Mix, followed by the funkier, more squelching Midtown Dub. The four versions connect vocal disco with dub arrangements that give the instruments more room.
