DJ Koze - Pick Up

DJ Koze turns a familiar disco vocabulary into something unusually affecting on ‘Pick Up’. Released as a single from knock knock, it loops fragments of Gladys Knight & The Pips and Melba Moore into a house groove that feels euphoric and wistful at once. The extended twelve-inch version lets that tension build, giving the vocal refrain and filtered rhythm plenty of space to work.

On the flip, ‘The Love Truck’ takes a more patient route. Fine, clicking percussion, sustained bass and drifting vocal textures unfold over a long arrangement with a softer landing. It's a strong pairing: an immediately recognisable disco-house A-side and a deeper, more exploratory companion from Koze's own Pampa Records.
