About this release
DJ Minx's first EP for Rekids pairs two vocal-led approaches to house music. Energy features Kendra Foster, whose uplifting performance meets firm drums and bright synthesizer stabs in a jacking arrangement. You Can takes a lower-slung direction on the reverse, using spoken word and a deep, creeping bassline to carry its message. The pairing follows Minx's remix work for Radio Slave and Kameelah Waheed, extending her connection with the label. As the founder of Women On Wax and a long-standing figure in Detroit's club culture, she brings that experience into tracks built around direct rhythm and vocal presence.
