DJrum - Portrait With Firewood

DJrum returns to piano as a starting point on Portrait With Firewood, developing a more personal approach after an emotionally unsettled 2017. His improvisations connect a background in jazz with electronic production, field recordings and experiments using contact microphones. Cellist Zosia Jagodzińska and vocalist Lola Empire contribute to the album, with cello recordings transformed into new melodic material across the set. Inspiration from Marina Abramović’s work also fed its emotional direction. Released by R&S, the double LP follows nine pieces through piano, bass and experimental electronics, including the two-part 'Creature', 'Blue Violet' and 'Blood In My Mouth'.
