About this release
Places and Spaces captures Donald Byrd’s move towards R&B and funk fusion in a seven-track album co-produced by Larry and Fonce Mizell. Released in 1975, the recording surrounds Byrd’s trumpet with detailed arrangements and rhythm-led songs including ‘Wind Parade’, ‘Dominoes’ and the title track. The programme balances those vocal and instrumental textures across two sides, closing with ‘Just My Imagination’. This Blue Note Classic Vinyl edition is mastered by Kevin Gray from the original master tapes using an all-analogue process and pressed on 180g vinyl at Optimal, presenting the complete album on one LP.
