About this release
Early B’s ‘Imitator’ returns through Death Is Not The End’s 333 series, backed by ‘Imitator Version’. Recorded for Prince Jazzbo’s Ujama label in 1987, the song places Earlando Neil’s deejay delivery over a computerized dancehall rhythm. Its lyrics challenge younger performers copying the veterans while acknowledging foundation figures including U-Roy, Big Youth, Dennis Alcapone, Trinity and Dillinger. Early B began performing on soundsystems in the late seventies and helped establish the King Majesty and Killamanjaro names alongside Super Cat. This new 7-inch cut presents the vocal and version pairing as a two-sided single.
