About this release
Elado’s Baba Edits Vol. 1 moves between disco, boogie-funk and proto-house, reworking recordings from several different musical traditions. Disko Disko! pushes Bollywood disco towards techno, while Yeah Yeah gives an elastic, punchy treatment to 1980s Thai boogie-funk. The reverse starts with El Sol, a more patient proto-house groove, before Yor Yor closes with a Bukharian disco edit. Released on Big Baba after Elado’s work for Razor-N-Tape, the record connects these contrasting sources through modern editing and electronic production. Each track takes a different route to the dancefloor, moving between the propulsion of disco and the tighter focus of club rhythms.
