About this release
Elado turns to Brazilian recordings for this pair of edits on Scruniversal. Sabor opens with a low, swaying funk groove, bringing together claps, a wandering bassline and layered vocal harmonies. Debbie follows with softer Portuguese-language soul vocals set among instrumental disco-funk textures. Both sides keep the melodic character of the source material prominent, using the arrangements’ rhythmic details to shape their dancefloor movement. The pairing connects Elado’s work as a collector and re-editor with a warm, song-led approach, moving between the first side’s tighter funk pulse and the smoother feel of the reverse.
