Emo Rugene - Wasi Wasi EP

Kenyan-born, Berlin-based producer Emo Rugene makes his In Living Color debut with Wasi Wasi EP. Organic percussion and hypnotic house grooves underpin three tracks that bring vocal collaborations into the centre of his electronic production.

Alai K lends a deep vocal presence to “Wasi Wasi”, while Soukou’s performance gives “Sahara Dena” a warmer, soulful character. The instrumental version of “Wasi Wasi” completes the 12-inch, offering another way to use the title track in a set. For listeners drawn to Afro house with a strong rhythmic foundation and room for the voices to lead, this is a useful introduction to Rugene’s sound.
