About this release
Melbourne producer Escape Artist follows his Energy Breakthrough EP with a two-track release for Phonica Records. ‘Forgot Who I Was’ develops its intensity through carefully programmed melodies and a shifting bassline, building and releasing tension across the first side. ‘Remembering’ carries related two-step drum ideas into a slower, more gliding arrangement, touching on ambient techno and acidic breaks. The pairing connects the energy of the A-side with a more spacious reverse, using melodic detail and rhythmic movement to give each track a different character. Both pieces appear on this 12-inch, one on each side.
