About this release
Florian Pellissier Quintet's Pacifiques Biches opens the group's hard-bop language to a calmer, more spacious sound. Fender Rhodes and Minimoog textures sit alongside trumpet, saxophone, double bass and drums, with some pieces leaving written scores behind in favour of freer collective playing. Archie Shepp and harmonica player Grégoire Maret contribute to “Archie Et John”, while Iggy Pop appears on “Only Fan” and DjeuhDjoah joins “Où C'est ? Qui Sait ?”. Recorded at QDS Studio in Paris, the album moves between melodic ensemble passages and more abstract textures. This Hot Casa vinyl LP comes housed in a tip-on sleeve.
