About this release
Physical Structure documents George Otsuka's quintet in 1976, with the Japanese drummer leading a group that connects acoustic jazz with electric keyboard textures. Fumio Karashima plays piano and electric piano, while Shozo Sasaki contributes tenor and soprano saxophone. Bass and additional percussion complete an ensemble built for extended improvisation and rhythmic interplay. The album contains four substantial pieces: Otsuka's title composition, Karashima's Little Island and Mustard Pot, and a closing interpretation of John Coltrane's Naima. Le Très Jazz Club's LP reissue returns this Three Blind Mice session to vinyl, preserving the original four-track programme.
