About this release
Gerardo Frisina and Luzia Dvorek pair an original song with a Dorival Caymmi interpretation in a project centred on Bahia. Frisina composed and produced Meu Canto, with Dvorek writing its lyrics and vocal melody around her family’s roots in northeastern Brazil. Toco contributes backing vocals, and Alfonso Deidda’s flute adds another melodic voice to the arrangement. The second side revisits A Lenda Do Abaeté, with Dvorek recounting the legend of the Abaeté lagoon over Frisina’s rhythmic setting. Acoustic guitar from Francesco Borrelli, who also mixed and mastered the recordings, connects the vocal performances with the record’s gently detailed instrumentation.
