About this release
Guto's Trânsito Livre and Tony Nunes' Por Favor bring two contrasting Brazilian recordings to Mr Bongo's Brazil 45s series. Trânsito Livre comes from Guto's 1979 album Para Viver on Arlequi Records, with a light MPB arrangement and shifting chorus that give the song an easy, flowing feel. Por Favor turns towards a brisker funk sound, driven by Hammond organ and wah-wah guitar. Originally released on Odeon in 1973, Nunes' compact performance carries a psychedelic, mod-influenced R&B character. This is the ninety-ninth Brazil 45s release, pairing the two tracks on a 7-inch cut at 45rpm.
