About this release
Copenhagen producer Hekt builds Beautiful from digital synthesis, pairing carefully shaped sounds with direct vocal hooks. Henriette Motzfeldt sings on ‘Beautiful’ and ‘You Won’t Believe’, while her Smerz partner Catharina Stoltenberg joins ‘Anytime Anywhere’. The title track’s descending bass and acid lines draw on memories of testing car subwoofers; ‘You Won’t Believe’ develops a piano sketch into a bigger, more emotional club arrangement. ‘Anytime Anywhere’ slows the pace to 110 BPM and adds Hekt’s own voice to its compressed, crunchy production. ‘Dream (Dub)’ completes the EP, mastered by Joel Krozer with lacquers cut by Tim Xavier.
