About this release
Hilit Kolet teams up with Manchildblack and Monstah Black, The Illustrious Blacks, for Transatlantic Kiki on Rekids. Lyrics connecting London and New York sit over Kolet’s tough, funk-driven rhythm, with the duo’s playful vocal delivery giving the track its character. The First Class Mix brings in additional vocal material and builds a more insistently looping arrangement around it. On the reverse, Robert and Lyric Hood reshape the song as Floorplan, bringing rolling drums, stabs and clipped vocals to the foreground. Their instrumental version closes the record, offering a second route through the remix’s percussion-led framework.
