About this release
High Flying brings Hiromasa Suzuki’s piano, electric piano and synthesizers into a crossover ensemble recorded in 1976. Produced by Jiro Inagaki, the album features Inagaki on saxophone and flute alongside players including Jun Fukamachi, Masayoshi Takanaka, Akira Okazawa and drummer Shuichi Murakami, with vocals by Kayoko Ishu. The title track opens before Screwdriver and Scramble, moving between jazz arrangements and a rhythm section rooted in funk. Between O&M, Smash and Straight Flash continue that interplay before Out Of Focus closes the record. This Nipponophone reissue presents the original programme on clear-pink vinyl.
