About this release
The Quintet presents three extended performances recorded by Horace Tapscott's group in 1969 and preserved in the Flying Dutchman archives. Producer Bob Thiele captured Tapscott on piano with Arthur Blythe on alto saxophone, Everett Brown Jr. on drums, and bassists David Bryant and Walter Savage Jr. World Peace moves from an intricate opening melody into a more forceful group passage; Your Child explores modal and freer jazz territory. For Fats begins with bowed bass and piano before developing a darker, driving momentum. Mr Bongo's edition gathers these archival recordings on one LP, with artwork by Raimund Wong.
