About this release
Hot Slot Machine's 1992 album brings house, hip-hop, R&B and reggae influences into a bass-heavy South African sound. Written by Makhosini Henry Xaba, later known as Joe Nina, and produced with Gerdes Chessman, the six-track set connects early hip-house grooves with the developing language of kwaito. I'll Be Ready and Lookin' Mix open the record, while Shake Ya Down, Lovin' Mix and Rhythm occupy the reverse. Heels & Souls licensed the reissue from Gallo, with audio restored by Sean P and Justin Drake and remastered by Drake. The LP includes a printed inner sleeve with photographs and liner notes.
