About this release
Tokyo producer Igaxx, also known as Shota Ikawa, makes his full-length debut on 12th Isle with New Lights. Working with hardware synthesizers from the 1990s and 2000s, he builds layered performances that leave room for small variations, unexpected turns and details that emerge through improvisation.
The eight-track album sits between ambient listening, downtempo and analogue house, drawing on the exploratory electronic music associated with labels such as Elektrolux and Rising High. Something Like Astral, Oka and the title track introduce a record that balances immersive texture with a light touch, finding connections between a club setting and closer listening at home.
