Ike Noble & The Uptights - Good Thing

‘Good Thing’ pairs Ike Noble & The Uptights’ mid-tempo soul cut with ‘Look A Little Higher’. The first side sits between the rhythmic drive of funk and a vocal-led soul arrangement, while the reverse turns towards a more emotionally direct deep soul performance. Issued by Athens of the North, this seven-inch brings the two recordings together with silver-ink overprinted labels that echo the original release designs. The pairing puts Noble’s singing and the group’s backing at the centre, moving from a steady groove into the expressive delivery of ‘Look A Little Higher’.
