About this release
Ike Noble & The Uptights take on James Brown’s ‘Money Won’t Change You’ on the first side of this Athens of the North seven-inch. Noble’s vocal rides the band’s funk-driven backing, giving the song a different setting while keeping its rhythmic emphasis. On the reverse, ‘She’s Got To Be Loved’ slows the pace into a deep soul ballad. The two recordings show the contrast between the group’s more forceful playing and its support for a restrained vocal performance. The release features silver-ink overprinted labels inspired by the original records.
