About this release
Jalen Ngonda’s debut album Come Around And Love Me pairs his soul songwriting with production and arrangements by Mike Buckley and Vincent Chiarito. Recorded at Hive Mind Studios in Brooklyn with musicians from the Daptone circle, the eleven-track set combines introspective lyrics with the melodic detail of classic soul. Ngonda’s vocal moves between a lighter touch and a more forceful delivery, supported by arrangements shaped with Motown in mind. The title song opens the album, while Just Like You Used To begins the second side; It Takes A Fool and Rapture close the programme. This Daptone Records edition presents the album on black vinyl.
