About this release
JARC reshapes two different strands of dance music on Downside Up and Cannon Baller. The A-side takes apart a disco recording and rebuilds it around a slowly developing bass groove, teasing elements through the introduction before the vocal arrives. On the reverse, Cannon Baller turns a mid-1980s jazz-prog source towards the club, extending its rhythmic momentum and funk feel. Both reworks favour gradual development, using the original recordings as material for new dancefloor arrangements. The two tracks share this twelve-inch on JARC Sounds.
