About this release
Julianna Barwick and Mary Lattimore combine voice, harp and analogue synthesizers in a collaboration recorded at the Philharmonie de Paris. Given access to the Musée de la Musique collection, Lattimore chose historical harps dating from 1728 to 1873, while Barwick worked with instruments including the Roland JUPITER-8 and Sequential Circuits PROPHET-5. Co-produced with Trevor Spencer over nine days, the sessions drew on years of friendship and touring together. Improvisation connects the instruments’ contrasting timbres across seven compositions, creating an intimate ambient setting shaped by shared experience, the aftermath of the Los Angeles wildfires and the possibilities of the museum’s collection.
