About this release
Backatcha pairs two recordings by New Jersey singer-songwriter Jumani on this seven-inch release. We Can Work It Out first appeared in 1994, bringing a soulful, melancholic vocal into contact with raw jeep-beat production. Give Me Your Love, recorded later in the nineties, adds a smoother R&B setting with a prominent bassline. Produced and sung by Jumani, both tracks are cut from the original studio DATs. The pairing places two points in his independent output side by side, moving from the more rugged feel of the earlier single to the warmer club-soul character of the previously unreleased reverse.
