Kaidi Tatham - Galaxy

Kaidi Tatham returns to 2000black with a four-track EP connecting R&B, boogie and broken beat. Lola Violet sings about escape and hope on 'Galaxy', which also appears in an Upbeat Mix. 'A Message From Above' brings jazz-boogie phrasing into contact with Jamaican influences, before 'Ergonomic Structures' closes the record with a meeting of hip-hop rhythm and 2-step. Across the vocal track and its companions, Tatham’s arrangement and rhythmic interests remain the centre of attention. The two versions of 'Galaxy' provide a useful comparison, with the remaining tracks taking the EP into distinct but related directions.
