About this release
Karen Dixon gives Deniece Williams’s ‘Free’ a lovers rock setting on ‘I Just Want to Be Free’. Issued from Neville King’s archive, the recording brings a soul song into the melodic reggae tradition associated with his productions. Planets pairs Dixon’s vocal version with ‘Dub to Be Free’ on the reverse, presenting the backing in instrumental form. The two recordings appear together on this licensed 7-inch, with the vocal on the A-side and the dub on the B-side.
