About this release
Excitement (Rap For Jesus) brings Kenneth Jordan’s soulful approach into a gospel and rap setting. A performer from Columbus, Georgia, Jordan moved from the local R&B scene towards faith-based music in the mid-1980s, working with musicians from the area to reach younger listeners through hip-hop. The recording resurfaced after collector Brian Sears found a copy in Little Rock in 2022 and began tracing its history. Athens Of The North pairs the title track with Jesus Is The Way, presenting two sides of Jordan’s gospel work while retaining the warmth and rhythmic energy of his earlier musical background.
