About this release
Kevan Adrian, the recording name of composer Kevan Frost, made Give It Up during two days of studio time received in place of unpaid session fees. He programmed drums, bass and keyboards with C-Lab on an Atari computer, used an Akai S1000 for samples, and recorded guitar and layered vocals to tape. Mark Grusane later encountered the record and developed a stripped-back dub for his DJ sets. Rush Hour’s reissue brings the original together with that treatment, allowing the vocal arrangement and its more spacious, rhythm-focused counterpart to sit side by side.
