Khalab & Baba Sissoko - Foli Bah

Foli Bah reunites Khalab and Baba Sissoko in a meeting of electronic composition and Malian griot practice. Khalab builds looping structures that deepen through repetition, while Sissoko’s voice and instruments become integral to the music’s rhythm and form. Ngoni, tama, doun doun, djembe, kalimba and karagnan sit within the electronic arrangements, creating a dialogue between persistent patterns and improvisation. The Bambara titles invoke themes including self-determination, coexistence, possibility and trust, giving the collaboration a wider emotional and social frame. Produced by Khalab, with lyrics by Sissoko, the album develops the working relationship they established on their earlier recordings.
