About this release
Kotoa bring their Earthwise and Out of the Dark EPs together on one vinyl LP for Wah Wah 45s. The five-piece from South East London combine soulful vocals, political lyrics and deep basslines, drawing on dub, trip hop and African-influenced jazz.
Produced by Benedic Lamdin, also known as Nostalgia 77, these ten recordings capture the band's blend of rhythm-section weight, guitar, keyboards and saxophone. The collection runs from Higher Being and Thieves and Scammers through to Smoke and Butterfly House, presenting both EPs as a continuous introduction to Kotoa's sound.
