About this release
Autobahn is Kraftwerk’s 1974 album, built around the long title piece that turns a motorway journey into a steadily evolving electronic composition. Repeated rhythms and melodic figures suggest motion, with voices and instrumental details appearing within the track’s broad arc. The second side changes scale through the two Kometenmelodie pieces, the darker Mitternacht and the lighter Morgenspaziergang. Together, the five tracks connect the band’s earlier experimental work with the more defined electronic language that followed. This Parlophone reissue uses the 2009 remaster and presents the album on 180g blue vinyl, keeping the original two-sided programme intact.
