About this release
Kwamé Fényan Ba connects his Martinique upbringing and Senegalese heritage on ‘Douvan Douvan’, an eleven-track album for Rebirth On Wax. Jazz, broken beat, soul and hip-hop inform a programme built around keyboards, rhythm and Caribbean musical influences. Samantha Lavital joins ‘An Nou Palé’, Laurent Succab appears on ‘Gadé Douvan’ and J0Y! contributes to ‘Sav’, while Will Allen Jr.’s horns feature on ‘Pitjé’, ‘Dlo’ and ‘Pli Loin’. These collaborations sit alongside instrumental pieces, with Kreyol culture, roots and resilience running through the record. Opening with ‘Matis’ and closing with ‘Boki’, the vinyl brings the complete eleven-track programme together on one LP.
