About this release
The Singer and the Song is Labi Siffre’s second album, a collection of love songs and observational writing from 1971. Siffre shares arranging and production duties with Ian Green, shaping a record that includes Thank Your Lucky Star, Not So Long Ago and Bless the Telephone. Brief pieces sit among the longer songs, giving the album a varied, intimate flow. This edition is half-speed mastered by Barry Grint at AIR Mastering from the original stereo tapes. The heavyweight black vinyl comes in a gatefold sleeve with an obi and poly-lined inner, plus a four-page insert containing Alan Robinson’s interview-based notes.
Format: Half-speed mastered 180g black vinyl LP, gatefold, obi, poly-lined inner and 4-page insert
